Fusion CMS; a popular content management system (CMS) for World of Warcraft originally developed in 2012 by Jesper Lindström. Short after the launch, Project has been discontinued. Few years later the original contibutors decided to open source the project, Various forks are being created and new contibutors started to look after the project.
As a contributor I started working on a version of my own, Actively developed for a year or two. That was for five/six years ago.
As today; The Fusion CMS has multiple versions, some are lack of features, some has security issues and some are breaking backwards compatibility and some are not compatibility with WOD expansion and beyond.
Thus I decided to start developing it once again, Its been built on top of existing repository: FusionGEN, I sought and obtained permission from Jasper (original founder) to rebrand and continue using the Fusion CMS name—a decision that brought joy to both of us.
Here's a glimpse of what you can expect in Fusion CMS version 8:
Enhanced Compatibility (Up to Patch 10):
Fusion CMS 8 now boasts complete compatibility with all existing patches. Previously, we encountered issues with modules like Armor, Item Shop, and Item that struggled with patches beyond Wod, resulting from the removal of item_template. Now, these modules work seamlessly with the latest patches.
Furthermore, all races, including Mag'har Orc, Mechagnome, Kul Tiran, Zandalari Troll, Vulpera, Dracthyr, as well as classes such as Evoker, and zones, are fully compatible up to Patch 10. You can even showcase all hero avatars with ease.
Auto Updater:
Our new Auto Updater feature allows you to effortlessly download and install updates from GitHub. While similar capabilities existed in other repositories, we've improved security by requiring admin permission for downloads and by hosting updates on Github.
Revamped Admin Panel:
The admin panel has undergone a significant transformation. Not only is it more visually appealing, but it is also fully responsive, ensuring a seamless experience on mobile devices. You can switch between dark and light themes, and the dashboard now provides real-time status updates for your realms.
Exciting New Features:
Fusion CMS 8 offers the flexibility to use any Fusion theme, including older ones. While you can still use version 6 themes, we recommend updating them to unlock new features. You can now choose where to place your sideboxes—above or below the news or on the side.
Theme designers can create language files for their themes, simplifying multi-language support. We've introduced a Minify system for CSS and JS files to boost SEO and loading speeds.
The News module has received attention, with issues like Readmore and colored text resolved, making it fully accessible.
We have also integrated Google Captcha V2 for security.
For those running item shops, you can now specify quantities for each item. Additionally, an item library has been added for better compatibility and optimized web cache management.
We've introduced a Top module, showcasing top kills, top players in terms of achievements, and top guilds. Menu systems have been reworked for dropdown menus, and the GM panel has gained more functionalities.
In Fusion CMS 8, the installation system has been revamped to offer a responsive experience. You can now select the expansion for each realm, allowing for precise realm configuration.
Core Tool Enhancements:
Our base source has been updated to the latest CodeIgniter version, ensuring compatibility with PHP 8. We've also refreshed tools like the TinyMCE text editor.
Other libraries like Smarty, Bootstrap, owl.carousel, and sweetalert2 have been brought up to their latest versions. In addition, we've streamlined the code by removing unnecessary libraries.
This marks an exciting chapter in the journey with Fusion CMS. We're committed to delivering a robust and user-friendly experience.
